Life Lately | January

Ahhh... January. The start of the "new year, new me" mantras, some maintained longer than others. For me, it was the start of something new - cue all the High School Musical lyrics - in more ways than one: I moved to a new state, started a new job, rented a new (to me) apartment with a new (to me) roommate, and transitioned into being a fully functional, independent adult (though I'm still on my family's health insurance and phone plan, but shhhhh).

I'm still trying to adjust to the new schedule and figure out how best to budget my time, but so far the transition has been relatively seamless. I like my job, I have the makings of a good friend group, I know where the library is, I found several good running trails, and I haven't yet missed the bus. The traffic is terrible, the aggressive, rude drivers put me on edge sometimes, and I'm terrified by the thought of driving in D.C., but I know all of these things will improve with time, and for now I'm happy to roll with the changes and take whatever life throws at me.

Watching // The End of the F***ing World, The Good Place (the new season is so good), Haley Fitzgerald's videos (one of the funniest people I've ever seen; I laugh at every single video)
Viewing // Dunkirk, The Hunt for the Wilderpeople
Listening // Blue Madonna by BORNS(!!!!), "Ancient Names (Parts 1 & 2)" by Lord Huron
Reading // The Great Alone by Kristen Hannah, The Interpreter newsletter from the New York Times (this month they did a three-part study on Mexican towns and democracy, and it was fascinating)
Planning // February weekend trips, spring concerts
